Golden Boy Blends – Golden Latte Review
I have a special product and mini recipe to share with everyone today. I am sure you are all aware of the golden milk or turmeric milk which has been steadily rising in popularity, especially in the winter months when people are looking for something warm and cosy and also something to help beat the winter cold and flu. This product is a delicious take on a traditional turmeric milk made trendy! I am very excited to have found it because I do not get nearly enough turmeric in to my diet as I would like! This product could not have come at a better time for us. We have just had a couple of extremely stressful and busy months while we are transitioning into starting my husband’s second business. Even though we are very excited and feel very positive moving forward, all the extra cortisol running around the body combined with a continuous lack of sleep is bound to take its toll soon. And it always hits when you can finally relax. Why is that? My plan is to load up on this delicious golden latte and add it into our smoothies, juices, porridge and curries and give our immunity some much needed help.
What is it: Golden Boy Blends Golden Latte is a brand new product that only launched in June earlier this year (June 2016) . It is already a big hit in various cafes around Melbourne with many people opting against coffee for this delicious cuppa instead. It is a blend of turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and black pepper. Although it is called a “latte” it has no dairy and no coffee so is 100% caffeine free.
Benefits: It boasts the wonderful healing powers of all the incredible spices it contains. Turmeric is of course one of the best natural anti – inflammatory available. It assists your immunity by helping fight off cold and flu, helps in recovery from injury or surgery and is even useful for chronic inflammatory conditions like arthritis, diabetes as well as depression and anxiety. Ginger has a long history of helping relieve digestive issues, lack of appetite and motion or morning sickness, combined with the extra kick of black pepper and the wonderful blood sugar lowering abilities of cinnamon this is basically health in a cup. The drink is combined with coconut milk which actually helps unlock more of the healing properties of turmeric and other spices due to its higher fat content. As mentioned it is also caffeine free and dairy free. It is raw, vegan and paleo.
The taste: the taste is similar to a creamy chai latte with a pepper hit
The Price: Reasonably priced at $19.99 per packet. Each packet has 105g. You only need a teaspoon at a time so the blend will last you a while.
How to use it: Stir 1 tsp golden boy into 10ml of boiling water. Heat 1 cup of coconut milk on the stove and add to the mixture and enjoy! It can also be added to smoothies, juices, porridge, chia puddings soups or curries. I will add the recipe for the latte in my usual little recipe box below, but the package of course comes with the instructions.
Cons: I have thought long and hard about the cons of the product because I wanted to give an honest review. The only thing that I can come up with is that I wish it was sold in more cafes around the country, including cafes in Townsville. It is a very new product though so I am sure that in time it will make its way into many more cafes around the country. The company does sell wholesale so if you are a café and are interested in selling this product in your café, go ahead and contact them.
Where to buy: If you are lucky enough to live in Melbourne you may find it in a few cafes. For everyone else you can find it here: www.goldenboy.com.au
All in all I think It is a wonderful healthy product that is sure to warm you up and keep you nice and healthy throughout the year.
